Patipat Chaiwitesh は、環境問題への懸念がある状況下で、テキスタイルデザインの定義を現代芸術へと拡張させるアーティスト兼デザイナーです。「Traveling treasures」展で Patipat は、デザインとアート両方の方法論を組み合わせ、ありふれたものが変化するプロセスと、我々がどのようにその通常の機能に挑戦できるかを強調します。

Patipat は、文化的対象と仏教の信仰の関係、特に、私たちがどのようにそれらの対象物とその解体物を活用しているかを反映したいと考えています。この欠片は、人間の文化と信仰の対象物を通じたその後の生を明らかにしました。彼は、この強い信仰の構造が今日まで社会に深く根付いている東アジアの、特別な文化に焦点を当てます。

Patipat は、死後の世界とのコミュニケーションにおいて火を媒介物として使うことに言及します。私たちは、一度燃えると、火が物事を来世に送り出すと信じています。しかし、この火を用いた儀式は、私たちの研究が示す観点からは、あまり環境にやさしくありません。

「Travelling treasures」展は、事物の解決とその文化的背景、または死後の世界との関係にさえ疑問を投げかける Patipat の、デザイナーであり現代アーティストである両者の立場に基づいています。

PATIPAT CHAIWITESH
(1986年、チェンマイ生まれ)

Patipat Chaiwitesh は、タイ・チュラーロンコーン大学美術工芸品学部（2009）での視覚芸術のバックグラウンドをもち、近年フランス・アンジェの TALM - École supérieure des beaux-arts テキスタイル・タペストリー科を卒業（2016）しました。卒業後、プロダクトデザインに関する仕事に取り組み、展覧会 “PLOYSAENG” Thailand Creative & Design Center（TCDC、2010）、“TOKYO DESIGN WEEK 2011”に参加、“Hoegaarden Different by Nature Design Contest”（タイ、2012）でグランプリ受賞、 “Maison & Odjet” with PLATO FORM（パリ、2012）、渡仏前に “IF concept design award”（ドイツ、2012）に選出されました。在仏中は “Cover contest for 50th Mark magazine”（2014）および “Dare to Dream Design Awards”（DESIGNBOOM.COM、2014）に選出、展覧会 “ART CAPITAL 2015”（Grand Palais、パリ）、“Stockholm furniture faire 2016”（スウェーデン・ストックホルム）への参加、また個展として“Les Outils”（SOY SAUCE FACTORY、バンコク、2016）を開催しています。

その後タイへ帰国。彼の作品は Bangkok Art and Culture Centreでの "Early Years Project #1"（バンコク、2017）に選出。そのほか、個展“stitch up” （YenakArt Villa art gallery、2017）、“Assimilate”（シラパコーン大学アートセンター、2017）も開催。

2018年、バンコクアートビエンナーレ2018（バンコク、2018）、2018年のバンコクデザインウィークにて TCDC （Thailand Creative & Design Center）でのグループ展 “Taste Test” に選出。同年、KF Gallery, Korean Foundation（ソウル、2018）、Asean Cultural House（釜山、2018）での展覧会に招聘後、彼の作品は S.A.C. Subhashok The Arts Centre での展覧会“Out of Place”（バンコク、2018）にて帰国しました。また彼はBamboo curtain studio（新北, 2018）のアーティスト・レジデンシー・プログラムに採用されています。
